OYO, a hospitality technology firm, has announced plans to add 750 hotels to its platform within the next three months. This expansion is strategically timed to coincide with the upcoming festive and winter tourism season, which is a peak travel period. The majority of these new hotels will fall under OYO's premium brands, including Palette, Townhouse, Townhouse Oak, and Collection O, as stated in a company press release.
OYO's focus for these additions will be on over 35 leisure markets, with key locations being Goa, Jaipur, Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Katra, Puri, Shimla, Nainital, Udaipur, and Mount Abu. This expansion aligns with OYO's mission to provide high-quality accommodations and memorable experiences to travelers while also contributing to the local communities by creating employment opportunities.
According to OYO, the number of foreign tourists visiting India during the first half of the year (January to June) has increased by 106% compared to the same period in 2022, as reported by a recent government study. This indicates a significant resurgence in foreign tourist arrivals in India after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The high season for tourism typically runs from October to January, attracting both domestic and international tourists. This period is crucial for the tourism and hospitality industry.
In addition to the hotel expansion, OYO has introduced a "stay now, pay later" (SNPL) option to provide travelers with more flexibility in planning their trips. This option offers customers a credit limit of Rs 5,000, which they can settle after 15 days from the end of their stay.
